First Peoples:
We respectfully acknowledge that the meeting house of the Quakers of Orlando stands on the ancestral lands of First Peoples, including the Timucua, the Jororo and their ancestors, and later the Seminole and Miccosukee Tribes of Florida.
Following hardships, the Timucua were wiped out by Europeans by the 1770s, and their cultural legacy is mostly unknown today. We pay honor and respect to all these First Peoples as we commit to building a more inclusive and equitable space for all.
