The ABCs of Public Banking - May 1st, 2014 7:00 - 9:00 PM

on Tue, 04/22/2014 - 15:03

May 1, 2014, you are cordially invited to a public presentation of"The ABCs of Public Banking" from 7 to 9 p.m. at the Quaker Meeting House, 316 East Marks St. Orlando, FL 32803 (directly across the street Lake Highland Prep School)

Public banking is banking in the public interest. It is not a retail bank. It is owned by the citizens of the county, city or state. It is an incredibly important innovation in public policy. Public banking is all about making money less scarce by funding the things our community values. At a time when Orange County and the City of Orlando (not to mention so many other cities and counties in America) are grappling with solutions to their budget crises by either cutting services, raising taxes, or selling public assets, public banking creates a 4th revenue stream to be used by the people. Public banking can underwrite renewable energy, sustainable agriculture, worker-owned businesses--projects that private banks do not fund. Come and join us!

This event is brought to you by the Peace & Social Concerns Committee (Quakers of Orlando), Awakening/art & culture (dedicated to artistry, heritage, imagination and the public interest), and the Public Banking Institute.

The "ABCs of Public Banking" event is a local expression of the Global Climate Convergence, April 22 - May 1, 2014.

The total viewing time is about 45 minutes. There will be a coffee break between part 1 and Part 2, with time for questions and answers at the end, a complete program that will last about one hour and a half.
